Park Events

The Friends of Washington Market Park produces several events each year with the support of the Department of Parks & Recreation and with contributions from neighborhood residents.

This year we are pausing certain events for safety reasons. When it’s safe to resume them all, we will do so!

It’s My Park Days

Twice a year, the Parks Department encourages communities to come together for hands-on help in city’s parks. Adults and children alike are invited to plant bulbs and flowers and help prepare Washington Market Park for the season ahead!

7th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest

This fun, free and festive pumpkin carving/decorating contest has grown into a community favorite! Prizes are awarded to one overall winner as well as to the winners of the five categories: scariest, funniest, cutest, most realistic and most creative. Bring your own jack-o-lantern to enter, or walk by with your family to enjoy the festive pumpkin patch display… this year along Greenwich Street between Duane and Reade Streets!

Halloween Parade and Party

This long-standing Tribeca tradition brings the entire neighborhood together for a parade down Greenwich Street, culminating at our huge park party with games and music.

Christmas Party

Crafts, treats and a visit from Santa warm-up the park in December!

Meetings |The Friends of Washington Market Park

Board meetings are usually held at the Downtown Community Center at 7:30pm and are open to the public. This year they are via zoom. We do not meet in July, August or December. Join us!
