2012 Events

The Friends of Washington Market Park produces several events each year with the support of the Department of Parks & Recreation and contributions from neighborhood residents. To receive email notices of our events, please join our mailing list.

It’s My Park Day
A citywide event where children can plant bulbs with the park’s gardener.
This will take place on a Saturday in May — date to be announced soon!

Ladybug Day
Kindergartners from participating local schools release ladybugs in the park at the start of summer.
Date to be announced soon

Summer Concert Series
A series of five family-friendly concerts will take place this summer on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m.

Children’s Tennis Clinics
Free tennis instruction for children twice a year on the park’s Chambers Street court.

Halloween Parade and Party
A 20+-year tradition in Tribeca that brings all the neighborhood’s children together to parade down Greenwich Street and party with games and music in the park.
Sunday, October 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Christmas Party
Carols, crafts, treats and a visit from Santa warm up the park in winter.
Saturday, December 8, from 2 to 3 p.m. (Rain date will be December 9.)

Meetings – The Friends of Washington Market Park

Meetings are held at the Downtown Community Center on the second Monday of every month at 7:15 p.m. We do not meet in August or December. The 2012 dates are as follows:
